Maintenance, repair and conversion
Our team’s collective and individual experience of maintenance, repair and conversion work allows us to offer clients a range of services from support with drafting specifications, tender evaluation, assessment of production or repair facilities, support during repair and conversion work and assistance with delivery, sea trials and post-delivery guarantee work.
Procedures and compliance
We can produce policy documents, technical procedures and operational guidance to support company aims and ensure that ship managers’ instructions to shore staff and crews complies with current requirements and provides a consistent, practical platform for the safe and efficient management of ship operations.
We can support ship managers by providing training during the implementation of procedures either in the office or on board ships, and this can be supported by auditing and compliance work to give valuable insights to ship managers regarding the adoption of policy in their workforce.
We can provide technical and practical help with the preparation of Emergency Response Manuals, ISM & ISO compliant manuals, functional specifications for complex marine operations, specialist operating manuals (LNG ships or FPSO, for example) and manuals to support project cargo and heavy lift operations.
Dry dock support
Many of our team have held senior ship repair positions and are well placed to offer support to owners undertaking dry dock work.
Most of our team have held superintendency positions prior to joining Braemar; we can offer back up support to superintendent team or we can offer ongoing support in the form of secondment to owner’s teams to support ongoing operations or a project.
We provide an extensive range of services to port and harbour operators and their risk holders.
Our Marine Risk services include:
- Chairing and facilitating marine HAZIDs
- Quantitative Risk Analysis assessing the frequency and consequence of:
- Dropped objects
- Anchors striking pipelines and subsea cables
- Cost Benefit Studies
We undertake detailed mooring and berthing analysis of vessels to optimise mooring patterns and fendering arrangements and identify limiting environmental conditions for specific berths. We also assess passing vessel effects and provide guidance on minimum separation distances and speed limitations.
Using our software routines we model existing and future traffic flows to predict port capacity and berth utilisations and to assess the effects on marine traffic of proposed modifications such as the introduction of new berths, vessel types or navigation rules (e.g. the introduction of one way traffic, speed limitations).
We undertake fast time and real time manoeuvring studies to identify arrival and departure environmental limits and tug requirements. We also offer pilot training services using a full mission simulator.
Our design support services include; assisting designers with port and berth developments covering aspects such as mooring and fendering arrangements, channel and turning circle design, manoeuvring analysis and operational simulation.
We undertake the Designated Person role on behalf of Port and Harbour Authorities to audit their compliance with the Port Marine Safety Code.
We are represented on industry panels and can offer support in the development of emerging standards and regulation.
Fuel efficiency and optimisation
We can provide detailed insight into the effectiveness and efficiency of an operator’s fuel strategy and develop a range of alternative optimisation measures that have been demonstrated to provide real savings in fuel consumption.
